About Rosa Alvarez Velez, LCSW, SEP
Welcome! I’m Rosa Alvarez Velez, LCSW (she/her/ella). I’m a queer cis woman of color, 1.5 generation immigrant and avid runner. I’m also a complex trauma survivor turned trauma therapist and social worker in Austin, Texas. I am particularly passionate about working with immigrants, BIPOC, queer and trans folks, people who experience relational ruptures and challenges with their families of origin, and those seeking to restore their spiritual connections to the land and their ancestors.
I believe true healing happens when we tune into all parts of ourselves with curiosity and listen to our body’s innate wisdom to heal our spirit in ways our rational minds never could. Thus, I love being witness to my clients’ healing through somatic therapies, including Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and parts work.
In my free time I enjoy going on a run with my friends, practicing martial arts, spending time in nature, snuggling with my cat, or traveling with my partner.
